In HOEK (CORNER), the choreographer Ugo Dehaes looks to confront the city around him. For this solo he transforms a public dog toilet into a stage. The movements for the dance are inspired by the energies, emotions and movements of the city around the dancer: Cars and bicycles that pass by, pedestrians in the neighborhood and spectators who take the time to watch the performance in their street.

HOEK transforms the ugliness into beauty: The dog's toilet becomes a stage, the chaos of the city gets catalysed into recognisable dance. HOEK is a gift for all those who live within the city.

HOEK was originally created for Blauwe Plekken during the Parcours D'artistes of St. Gilles in 2010.
