Charlotte Vanden Eynde (°1975) is a dancer, choreographer, actress and video artist living in Ghent (B).

In 1999 she graduated at P.A.R.T.S., the Brussels based school for contemporary dance headed by choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. Since 1997, she has been creating highly personal choreographies and performances, focusing on the body with a strong sculptural and imaginative sensibility.

At first, Charlotte’s work was about vulnerability, intimacy and femininity (‘Benenbreken’, 'Zij Ogen', ‘Vrouwenvouwen’). Later she focused on the body as matter and as a visual object/subject, using objects and video projections on the body, in ‘Lijfstof’ (with Ugo Dehaes) and ‘MAP ME’ (Creatieprijs Dans SACD 2003). With the group piece ‘Beginnings/Endings’, she returned to pure dance, a movement that was extended in two dancing solos: ‘I’m Sorry It’s (Not) A Story’ and ‘Shapeless’. Therefore she established a dialogue with her earlier work: searching for freedom and personal expression in the formality of dance. She performed as well in as outside Belgium, going from Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels to DTW in New York.

Besides her work as a choreographer, she is working in theatre and film as a dancer and actress. Since 2004, she is also creating videos and video installations, always starting from the expressive possibilities of the body.
