During season 2013-2014, Ugo Dehaes was appointed as Zinnema’s dance curator. His work’s spreading all over Europe and in 2011 WOMEN was nominated for ‘Het Theaterfestival’. Ugo renewed this performance with young girls, which resulted in the success production GIRLS. This piece was the subject of Ugo’s inspiration for Zinnema’s new dance season.
Under its experienced and enthusiastic guidance, Zinnema offers dancers a unique chance to analyze strong choreographies with professional choreographers, to get hold of them and to present them at the closing party in June. Therefore Ugo Dehaes invited a few young and promising contemporary choreographers that had already been praised highly. Each one of them reprocessed a special scene of his/her earlier work with a group of dancers. Choreographers were: Tuur Marinus (Busy Rocks), Maria Clara Villa-Lobos, Koen De Preter, Randi De Vlieghe and Natascha Pire, Karin Vyncke and Ugo Dehaes himself. The project is meant for every possible dancer: young or old, beginners or advanced dancers. At the end of the season, all scenes are put together in a dazzling performance with a complimentary exposition.
The performances took place on Saturday June 21 and Sunday 22, 2014, at 8.30 PM at Zinnema.
